The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) was trained in their crisis preparedness

Last year, following a transparent procurement procedure organised by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), CRISMART was awarded a contract to carry out a “Food Safety Emergency Simulation Exercise” for EFSA’s services. As EFSA’s contractor, CRISMART prepared two crisis simulation exercises in collaboration with a working group of food and feed safety experts. The first exercise was an in-house simulation exercise in July 2009. The aim of the exercise was to test EFSA’s preparedness and the procedures outlined in the Authority's own emergency planning. The aim with the second exercise, in November 2009, was to assess cooperation between EFSA, EU Member States and the European Commission.
