Professor Helsloot has earlier conducted research on the 2000 Enschede fireworks factory disaster and a night club fire in the Dutch city of Volendam. Currently, Professor Helsloot is working on a book together with Uriel Rosenthal (Leiden University, COT Institute for Safety, Security and Crisis Management), Brian Jacobs (Staffordshire University) and Louise Comfort (University of Pittsburgh).
