More about the seminar
The current global financial crisis has reached such scale, scope and speed that it has defied the ability of government authorities and other stakeholders to effectively manage the situation as economic havoc spreads across the globe. Depression, for the first time in generations, has crept back into the lexicon of economists and media commentators. Despite clear advance warnings signals, why was the crisis not contained before reaching a tipping point beyond which decision makers seem to have lost control of events?
On December 11th two leading research institutes seek to find answers to this and other crucial questions surrounding the roots and responses to the global financial crisis. This international seminar brings together experts on finance, government and crisis management to examine the causes, consequences and cascading dynamics of the global financial crisis that began in the American housing market and spread through the interlinked global economy, necessitating multi-lateral coordinated responses from governments and transnational institutions.
