CRISMART researchers arrange workshop at 2008 NOPSA conference

During the Nordic Political Science Association's 2008 conference in Tromsø, Norway, CRISMART hosted a workshop entitled "Crisis Management in Democracies: Leadership, Policy-making and Institutional Design."  The workshop attendees represented a number of Nordic and even one Australian research institutes, as well as the Norwegian public sector.  Papers presented during the workshop sessions concerned a wide range of issues pertaining to the field of crisis management, including: plan development, utilization and dissemination; the effects of policy shifts regarding law enforcement on public opinion; the relationship between organizational culture and successful crisis management; the media's role in framing national crises; organizational flexibility, rigidity and learning; and executive-level advisory systems.
