Professors Lee Clarke, Yonah Alexander and Thomas Birkland lecture at the Swedish National Defence College
CRISMART and the Folke Bernadotte Academy hosted on March 9, 2007 Professors Lee Clarke, Yonah Alexander and Thomas Birkland at the Swedish National Defence College.
During a morning seminar, Professor Lee Clarke from Rutgers University and Anschutz Distinguished Fellowship in American Studies at Princeton University presented his most recent book, Worst Cases: Terror and Catastrophe in the Popular Imagination.
Professor Clarke was followed by Professor Yonah Alexander, who presented a recent study of the anti-terrorist response and policy of 15 nations, respectively. Professor Alexander is the director of the Inter-University Center for Terrorism Studies and Co-Director, Inter-University Center for Legal Studies. He is also director of the International Center for Terrorism Studies at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies.
Professor Thomas Birkland, director of the Center for Policy Research in the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the University at Albany, a unit of the State University of New York, rounded off the morning with a discussion concerning the role of sudden events, or what he terms focusing events, on the public policy process.
