Crisis Management in Estonia: Case Studies and Comparative Perspectives
Eric Stern & Daniel Nohrstedt (1999)
This volume is part of a series of studies exploring problems of national crisis management from an international perspective, which initially focused upon the countries in the Baltic Sea region and now extends across the European continent. It explores the national experience of the restored, democratic Republic of Estonia, providing an institutional history of Estonian crisis management and detailed studies of seven contemporary crisis cases: The 1993 Narva Referendum Crisis; The 1994 Hijacking of Aeroflot Flight TU 134-B; The 1994-1995 Refugee Crisis in Estonia; The 1996-1997 Oru Peat Factory Bankruptcy Crisis; The Tragic 1997 Peacekeepers’ Accident; The 1997 Kostivere Arms Robbery; and Economic Overheating in Estonia, 1997. Each case study is written by a local expert and is structured according to the cognitive-institutional research strategy developed in this multi-year, cross-national study program.
