Daniel Nohrstedt
Daniel Nohrstedt started working at CRISMART in 1998 and defended his PhD at the department of Government at Uppsala University in 2007. His doctoral dissertation Crisis and Policy Reformcraft: Advocacy Coalitions and Crisis-induced Change in Swedish Nuclear Energy Policy is included in CRISMARTs ongoing research on crises, learning and change as well as a part of an international research project on policy change.
Daniel’s research is primarily focused on crisis and learning, intelligence issues, counter-terrorism policy and the public policy process. He is the author of the CRISMART volume Managing Crisis Abroad: The Brolin Kidnapping (1999) as well as co-author of The Kursk Submarine Accident: Coping with Value Complexity and Credibility Loss in Crisis (2001) and co-editor of Crisis Management in Estonia (1999). Daniel has published articles on crisis management in the Journal of European Public Policy (2005),Government and Opposition (2003) and the Policy Studies Journal. Together with Dan Hansén, Daniel is running a research project on counter-terrorism policy in Europe after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States. He teaches courses at the Swedish National Defence College on crisis management, public policy analysis, and research methods and is also engaged as part-time teacher at the Department of Government at Uppsala University.
