Greg Simons

Greg is Crismart’s editor for the international publications series. He defended his doctoral thesis with Canterbury University’s Department of French and Russian (New Zealand) in 2004. The thesis was titled “Ideology, Image-Making and the Media in Putin’s Russia”.

In addition to editing the international publications – currently volumes on Poland, Romania, SARS, Kaliningrad and Ukraine – he is a coordinator for an INTAS project involving Crismart and teams from Iceland, Moscow, Kaliningrad and Kiev.

His personal research focuses primarily on the issue of crisis management communications and mass media’s reporting of crises. A number of recent and pending publications feature the issue of how the Russian mass media handle the problem of reporting on Russia’s war on terrorism.
