Coping with a Credibility Crisis: The Stockholm JAS Fighter Plane Crash
Annika Brändström (2001)
The JAS 39 Gripen aircraft crashed in the middle of Stockholm amongst thousands of spectators during the annual water festival in August. The report focuses on how various governmental and private sector actors responded to this dramatic and politically volatile setback, which posed a grave threat to the credibility of the officials and the organizations involved. A comprehensive analysis of the crisis management activities is presented (including an examination of crisis preparedness, crisis decision making, crisis communication, post-crisis accountability and lessons learned).
